The Lady Hornets traveled to Byron on Tuesday and came away with a double header sweep.
The Hornet won the first game 5-3 thanks to a dominant performance by Mallory Heroux in the circle.
Heroux started the game and got the win. She went 7 innings giving up 3 runs only 1 earned, 5 hits 1 walk and striking out 11
The hornets waited until the 3rd inning before scoring. Savanah Knieper singled, stole 2nd and the Henige drove her in with a single. Alexandria Knieper would plate Ashlyn Orr and Elizabeth Hebert later in the inning with a single. NL would score 2 more in the 4th. Ava Thorsby lead off with double stole 3rd and then scored on a passed ball. Anna Lucius would lay down a sacrifice but to score the 5th run.
Henige, Thorsby and S Knieper each had 2 hits. A. Knieper had 2 RBIs, Henige and Lucius had an RBI each. The Hornets stole 8 bases in the game S. Knieper, and Orr had 2 each.
The 2nd game end in a 15-1 mercy thanks to some hot hitting by Victoria Henige and Ashyln Orr. These 2 ladies in the nightcap combined for 6 hits 5 RBIs and 2 runs.
NL broke things open in the 2nd inning scoring 10 runs. Anna Lucius would single scoring 2 runs then after a single by S. Knieper to load the bases Henige would come up and double clearing the bases scoring 3. Orr would follow with a double of her own followed by a single by A. Knieper to make the score 7-0. The Hornets would score 3 more in the inning with out the aid of a hit. NL would score 1 in the 3rd thanks to hits by Henige and Orr. The Hornets would score 4 more in the 4th when coach Birchmeier cleared the bench. Mikalya Griffin lead off the inning by being hit by a pitch, followed by hit by Gabby Kitchen, Ali Hunt, Henige and Orr.
Mallory Heroux got the start in the win in the circle she gave up 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk and struck out 3. Savanah Knieper would come on in relief and would give up 2 hits, 1 run and walked 1 striking out 3.
